Work on the Guidelines starts
Acciona´s headquarters held the first meeting of partners involved in the elaboration of the DURABROADS Guidelines last 10 March.
This document will detail the procedures for the production and deployment of the new asphalt. Specific aspects regarding climate change and freight corridors will be described in relation to the innovative elements that compose the new DURABROADS asphalt. In parallel, a technical description of the new modified binders with Carbon Black and the sustainable aggregates added (i.e. by-products and RAP) and technique used (WMA) will be included.
The consortium is still working on the development of the LCA and LCC to confirm better performance of the DURABROADS solution. Results from final tests will be included in the Guidelines together with the deployment in a real road situated close to Madrid.
Partners also worked on the links between DURABROADS asphalt and the recently adopted Criteria on Green Public Procurement by the JRC of the EC. Concretely, four different elements will be explained: minimum recycled content, durability of surface and rehabilitation, low temperature asphalt technique and end-of-life use.
First draft of the Guidelines will be presented in Brussels during the EU Workshop next June.
